| Trust income is applied to programs of support in one of the following four areas:
| - Vocational Assistance Training Grants
- Industry Wide Training Development
- Business Skill Enhancement
- Institutional Development Initiatives

| VET Development donations are the principal source of funds most of the Trust's work.
| Sponsor a Student donations, being special purpose donations to assist students, are the principal source of funds for whole-of-course fee-replacement programs under the Vocational Training Assistance Grants category.

 | dili institute of technology (DIT)
| In its earliest stages, the Trust established relationships with the newly emerging vocational education and training provider in East Timor – Dili Institute of Technology (DIT).
The Trust will continue to encourage DIT, as a recognised provider of vocational training in Timor-Leste, to submit programs which they would like the Trust to support..

 | ETDA
| ETDA (pronounced et-dah) is a not-for-profit job centre and training organisation.
The name derives from the originally named "East Timor Development Agency" set up by Palmira Pires in the early 2000's.
Palmira Pires is still the Director of ETDA which has evolved into a vibrant, well managed work-focused training centre.

| Office Skills Certificate 2* - 2006
| Good office skills are essential to enable all kinds of government and private organisations to function well and efficiently.
ETDA received applications from 96 people for placement in the course (46% being women). Of these, 72 (50% women) attended for interview and a practical selection test.
The highly effective course of 254 contact hours, was offered to 60 students (45% women) who attended in two successive groups.
The courses were delayed due to the troubles in 2006 which resulted in 13 people canceling. The remaining 47 completed the course and as at end May 2007 there were 27 working - an amazing 57%!!

| Office Skills Certificate 2* - 2007/8
| The success of the fiurst program lead to the funding of a second program of courses. ETDA interviewed 126 people to select 60 unemployed particpants. They were split into three courses of 20 people, 57 % of who are women.
The course was 415 hours of study which includes 2 months practica;l work placement.
Follow-up is being conducted by ETDA to determine work placements following the course.

 | Don Bosco Agricultural College - Fuiloro
| East Timor is very rural society and the development of good agricultural skills is essential. The Don Bosco agricultural school at Fuiloro, near East Timor's eastern tip, will receive funding to help train young rural students and give them essential agricultural skills.

| Basic Farm Skills
| This project supported 128 students to study at Don Bosco College and gain practical experience in horticultural studies using equiment purchased from monies provided by the Xanana Trust.

|  | This Vocational Training Assistance Grant was funded from a specific purpose donation from the Rotary Club of Bentleigh Moorabbin, Victoria to the Xanana Trust for this work.

| Susubeen Timor-Leste
| This three year initiative aims to add additional income to many rural families, with the potential for many thousands to benefit.
Rural families owning buffalo will be encouraged to join the this industry development initiative. Training will be provided to assist them to manage their buffalo and the milking process.
Development of supply chain processes by groups of local farmers will be encouraged and training given to assist this.
Development of a commercial basis for daily milk purchases, processing and sale will be encouraged and training given to assist this.
