Ian has the qualications:
Bachelor of Commerce (Melbourne) - Major in Accounting,
Economics - Minor in Commercial Law, Economic Geography, Statistics
Bachelor of Education (Monash) - Major in Curriculum Design, Educational Measurement
Master of Education (Monash) - Thesis in Occupational Analysis

He is a Council Member, Chisholm Institute of TAFE
Chairperson, Audit & Risk Management Committee, Chisholm Institute of TAFE
Member, Melbourne Catholic Archdiocese Education Audit Committee.

Ian was made a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) on June 12 2006 for service to education and training, particularly through contributions to the establishment of the technical and further education system in Victoria, and to the community.

Ian is a Director, Ian Predl & Associates [since 1987]; Director, Mt Eliza Cellars; President, Sorrento Probus Club; and Chairperson, Communities That Care Board, Mornington Peninsula Shire.

He was Victorian state-wide co-ordinator of Kangan Report Implementation (1974)
Vice principal, Emily McPherson College (1975-76)
Principal, Frankston College of TAFE (1976-1980)
Chairman and Chief Executive, Victorian TAFE System (5 years early-mid 1980s)
Chairman, National TAFE Statistics and Curriculum Committees (1984-87)

Ian is currently Director and Principal Consultant, Ian Predl & Associates (1987-2005). Studies undertaken have included:
