Xanana Trust Profile: Geof Donnelly

Geoff Donnelly - Chairman

Managing Director of Norwich’s Financial Services Companies. This included the establishment of the Navigator Master Trust and growing the funds it managed to over $1 billion; management of the development and provision of financial planning software tools and independent investment analysis to over 1000 financial planning and advisory firms; the development of the Remunerator Flexible Remuneration System.

A Change of Career in 1996. Following a planned 2 year “handing over” period, after two stints totaling 25 years at Norwich, I pursued a new direction as an independent non-executive director and consultant. The highlights have included such activities as:

Chairman of Remunerator (Aust.) Pty Ltd (1997-2001). The company had been sold by Norwich some years earlier as it was then regarded as non-core. During my term as chairman it grew into a highly profitable company processing some $200 million of benefits each year for about 10,000 employees Australia wide.

The Youth Ambassadors Program.(1999). Contracted by AusAID (a division of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade) to review and recommend improvements to one of Australia’s volunteer programs throughout Asia and the Pacific.

Chairman of Watershed Systems Pty Ltd (2000-2003).This is a small but long established and highly respected Information Systems consultancy specializing in applications development within the AS/400 environment and the management of mid-sized PC networks.

Chairing the Steering Committee of the Western Region Good Sports Program (2002-2003). This Community Strengthening Initiative, aimed at responsible use of alcohol throughout all types of sporting clubs, is now moving into the National arena following its successful implementation into a number of regions in Victoria.

Chairing the Project Control Group (2002-2003) for a multi million dollar Information Systems project for a national Financial Services company. Much of the work was outsourced to an international service provider.

Director of Health Professionals Insurance Australia Pty Ltd and Chairman of their Audit and Compliance Committee. This company was established in early 2003 to provide Indemnity insurance to Doctors and Health Professionals as a result of the Government’s new regulatory regime. Premiums for the FY ending 2004 are forecast to be $40 million.

The Intrepid Foundation. Member of the management committee establishing this Foundation to provide support to local community projects throughout Asia.

Some other items include a long term Board position at the Australian Drug Foundation, gaining a Recreational Pilot’s License, skydiving, and backpacking holidays to Vietnam, China, India, Nepal, and Japan.
