Neil Black PSM

Neil holds a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture (Uni of Sydney), a Diploma of Education (Technical) and an honours level Certificate in Horticulture. He is one of the most respected TAFE practitioners in NSW, and is known nationally as a highly innovative administrator.
Neil was Institute Director of TAFE NSW Western Institute from 1992 to 2000 and Institute Director of TAFE NSW North Coast Institute from 2000 to 2006. Under his leadership Western Institute was awarded NSW Training Provider of the Year in 1999 and North Coast Institute was awarded NSW Large Training Provider of the Year in both 2004 and 2005 and Australian Large Training Provider of the Year in 2004. Neil is widely known for his contributions towards Aboriginal Education in TAFE NSW and for his achievements in implementing innovative and flexible approaches to teaching and learning in the servicing of rural and regional communities. In 2003 he was awarded the national AUSTAFE Award for Educational Leadership.
On the occasion of his retirement in April 2006, Neil was nominated by the Deputy Director General of TAFE NSW, Marie Persson, to join the Trust's VET Development Group.
Neil was honoured with a Public Service Medal in the Australia Day 2007 Honours List for outstanding services to education.
